This is one of the hardest things I have experienced in school. But at the same time it has been a great experience. I think this experience and process is so meaningful to me because this teaches me real world job experience and rejection. All my life I have feared rejection. I let it stop me from going to high school dances because I was so afraid. But once I got rejected from the first company it pushed me more to try and get an internship.
Some of the strategies I have used are mainly putting myself into my cover letter. I want to be a fun guy but at the same time a professional. And I think I achieved this with my cover letter. A unique strategy I used is I personalize every email. So there is a basic outline but I also add different things into it because I have to send it to different career fields. So when I apply to Nixon I talked about how much I loved their product and that I was a big supporter.
I have not been getting many responses but I have tried contacting several businesses in La and San Diego. I have tried Stu Segall production studios, Maker Studios, Nixon, Captain Finn, Spy, and Conan, just to name a few. The only people that have responded with an answer that was hopeful was Nixon. I emailed them last Friday and they got back to me the same day saying thank you and they would ask someone in the art direction department. So I have made little but still some progress.
The next step id just to reach out to EVERYONE I know. Im talking about acting agents, Casting agents, Photographers, just anyone who has experience in any field. I really need to just step up and ask teachers and parents of my friends. I have already taken these steps but I need to do it more and get on their cases. I also want to follow up with other companies that never responded and try sending them one more email.
